Galanopoulou Elena

Born in Moscow in 1965, Elena Gladkia-Galanopoulou is a self-taught artist, began painting at the age of 14 inspired by the nature scenery all over and around Moscow. Now living and working in Athens, Greece she has focused on her paintings, exhibiting in all of Greece. Rather than conventional styles, over the years she developed her own style and technique such as applying stones and wood on canvas, creating a visual impression of volume and light, bringing us even closer to the places Eelna wants us to see. The black and white paintings demonstrate how the beauty of nature does not live only in color bringing out the more melancholic and calm feeling of nature.
The art work created by Elena Galanopoulou during the last 20 years, represents the anamnesis and feelings of the artist that are inspired by her favourite places. The memories of Russian sceneries and Greek landscapes are carefully cherished and brought to us in the smallest detail, reflecting on the beauty of each different part of our surroundings - forest, sea, sky. By creating paintings with her distinct point of view she manages to bring us closer to all her experiences - solace, joy, felicity, harmony, sorrow.
